Philadelphia Drips with Fall’s Fringe Performers

 ..."Entertainment on the edge." Theatre, dance, music, comedy, puppetry, poetry, interdisciplinary work will be presented side by side in traditional and non-traditional settings against a backdrop of visual arts and intercultural dialogues during this year’s Fringe.

 Last year performers played to sold out houses in a festival that brought an estimated 17,000 people to Old City (Philadelphia, PA) for its five day run. Both alternative and mainstream media gave the Fringe extensive and favorable coverage. The Philadelphia City Paper awarded the Fringe "Readers Choice Award for Best Arts Festival", the Philadelphia Weekly named Fringe Producer Nick Stuccio "Person of the Year", and the Philadelphia Inquirer theater critic Clifford A. Ridley honored the Fringe as the year's 'most welcome addition'..."

 Tickets are $9.00. There will also be a Fringe Festival button available that entitles the wearer to a $2.00 discount. The Fringe will accept credit cards for ticket purchases. A $2.00 handling fee per order will be charged to the customer. Tickets will be on sale the third week in August. Tickets will be sold at the central box office up to two hours before each show. At that time, a Fringe Festival volunteer will take any unsold tickets to the venue to be sold 1/2 hour before each performance.  There will also be a parade First Friday September 4, 1998 prior to the Fringe Festival (which runs September 9-19) to promote the festival. Many Fringe Festival artists will participate.
